            Researching the internet

The Internet can be a fantastic place to do research and to add your understanding of a particular topic. To make the best of the internet you need to consider the following:

            • Anything that is on the internet is there because somebody has put it there. In the same way that you always think critically about what people tell you if you're having a conversation, so you need to think critically about what people are putting on the net.
            • Always try and compare what you find out using more than one website
            • Try and think about how credible the website is. Does it quote its sources and say where it has got its information from? Does it represent an organisation that would take care to check and update its information? Does it look like it's been made by somebody as part of a hobby or personal interest?
            • Avoid copying and pasting information. You need to always take care to put information into your own words so that you are clear about your own understanding.
            • Include links to where you found your information onto your own website. That way people who visit your website can see where you got your information from. It will make your website look much more professional.

            Task

You need to add what you found out from your research on to your website. It could just be a page called research with text and an image. But you could also think about other more interesting ways of doing it like making a good stuff, posting an audio version, making a keynote with images and audi, making a comic using comic life and images you find on the Internet ...
